MODINICE enters final phase

Dear Companists,

For the final phase of our crowdfunding campaign, we would like to recap everything we have achieved so far.

Trademark and property rights

Securing all necessary rights is extremely important for MODINICE - especially considering our incipient international expansion and the valuation in case of an exit. In this respect, we have achieved the following goals:

  • Expansion of German patent to China, Taiwan, USA
  • Application for design patent in Europe, China, USA, Taiwan
  • Expansion of trademark registration to USA, China, Taiwan
  • MODINICE domain registration in all relevant international markets

Corporate and inventory management

Securing sufficient organizational resources for corporate and inventory management can be a challenge for internationally operating manufacturers. These resources must be established as early as possible in order to ensure unproblematic growth. MODINICE has established the following:

  • inventory management based on stock and international purchasing
  • affiliated accounting, payroll accounting
  • affiliated web shops for end customers and distributors
  • service structure with according service-level agreements (SLAs) for service throughout Germany

We also had to master various final challenges in production. For example, we successfully perfected numerous aspects related to surface finish, serviceability and passive ventilation.

Last but not least, we would also like to mention profit/cost structure: We achieved operational profit as of the first month with revenues. Our objective was to keep the cost structure as streamlined as possible during the first phase so that even the first revenues would be sufficient to cover fixed costs. From this initial position, we can now safely scale the business in accordance with available gross profit. This is something we are particularly proud of.

In short: Aside from the approx. 2-3 month delay, we achieved and sometimes exceeded all benchmarks.

Required investment, use of capital, and growth

At the beginning of the campaign, we defined numerous funding goals for various measures. In the end, we generated a little more than the minimum investment level of EUR 100,000. We have already implemented the planned measures for the minimum investment level, as you can see in the following table.

Investment Level 1: €100,000

Planned Measures

Implemented Measures

Hiring of one full-time sales employee and product development

Hiring of one full-time sales employee; completion and launch of the online shop; ERP software; further development of product packaging; registration of MODINICE trademark in USA, Taiwan and China

Sales activities such as trade shows and industry events

CeBIT participation and acquisition of 20 resellers; "Best of 2016" innovation award in the hardware category from German SME initiative

PR measures

Mentions in relevant IT and business media: CRN, IT-Business, Channel Partner,, FocusMoney; "Technologie" supplement in WirtschaftsWoche

Marketing activities

So far, we have refrained from paid advertising as we want to take a very effective and strategic approach in this area. Editorial mentions have been sufficiently far-reaching so as to sell more than the first batch and to successfully verify our product on the market. We will now launch the second phase of brand positioning and advertising.

We would like to thank you for placing your trust in MODINICE and hope that you (and we) enjoy the final phase of the campaign!

Best regards,

Investments in startups and growth companies offer great opportunities, but they are risk investments. In the worst case, the entire investment amount may be lost. Consequently, investments in startups or growth companies are unsuitable for retirement plans. However, there is no obligation to make further contributions. Investors can minimize their risk by diversifying the amount they invest in startups and growth companies and not investing the entire amount in one startup or growth company. Professional investors often follow this strategy because it causes the risk to be distributed among several investments. In this way, successful investments can balance other less successful investments.

The shares of the investors on Companisto are subordinated profit-participating loans (partiarische Nachrangdarlehen). Such loans are shares in a business with similar characteristics as equity. If the company becomes insolvent or is liquidated, the claims of the investors (Companists) – just like those of all other shareholders of the company – will be satisfied from the assets in the insolvency or the assets in liquidation only after the claims of all other external creditors have been satisfied. Thus, Companists are treated like any other shareholder of the company during insolvency or liquidation proceedings.

The company information published on the Companisto website is provided solely by the companies. The projections made by the companies do not guarantee successful development of the company in the future. Consequently, investments in startups and growth companies are suitable only for those investors who can cope with the risk of a total loss of the capital invested. Investors make their own independent investment decisions and bear all risks themselves.

The investments are provided and issued by the individual companies. Companisto is neither the provider nor the issuer of the investments, but solely the internet service platform.
