Pilot Project Videoportal Straße in Cologne-Eifeltor Completed Successfully

Dear Companists,

The digital terminal will become reality soon – To secure future competitiveness, the market leader Deutsche Umschlaggesellschaft Schiene - Straße (DUSS) actively designed this process and initiated the pilot project "Videoportal Straße" together with ASE GmbH in Cologne-Eifeltor, which has now been completed. After many challenges, the final approval took place a few days ago.

Various reasons for introducing video portals

The DUSS had both external and internal reasons:

  • On the one hand, digitalization in combined transport (CT) takes place at a comparatively high speed and requires a high degree of standardization. Upstream and downstream value-added stages (ports, forwarders, operators, hinterland terminals) benefit from the higher degree of digitalization.
  • On the other hand, the "low margin" business of the overall CT market requires a significant reduction in process costs. In addition, capacity for site expansion is limited and requires intelligent planning of existing space.

In future, automated booking and check-in will take place with the help of the video portals

In future, trucks and loading units can be routed through the terminal automatically with advance booking. An average of around 1,400 trucks passes through the terminal every day at Cologne-Eifeltor. Identification takes place when entering the terminal via our video gate. Loading units are checked for possible damage using the video documentation; the data detected are integrated into the DUSS operations control system via an interface.

The video system detects vehicle registration numbers, container codes (ILU and BIC codes), and hazardous goods and waste labels. A careful selection of state-of-the-art sensors is used for this purpose. A big challenge was the separation of vehicles and loading units, which we were able to master with special 3D cameras and a continuous adaptation of our Numberfinder software.

Advantages are evident to the DUSS

Aside from the capacity expansion, demand is increasing and thus ensures higher sales. Reduced throughput times, a lower error rate, and fewer cases of damage improve quality and reduce internal costs.

DUSS is also one of the leading providers in the combined transport terminal business in Europe.

Note

Investments in crowdfunding projects offer great opportunities, but they are risk investments. In the worst case, the entire investment amount may be lost. Consequently, these investments are unsuitable for retirement plans. However, there is no obligation to make further contributions. Investors can minimize their risk by splitting their investment amount between crowdfunding campaigns rather than investing all of it in one crowdfunding campaign. Professional investors often follow this strategy because it causes the risk to be distributed among several investments. In this way, successful investments can balance other less successful investments.

The shares of the Companists are subordinated profit-participating loans (partiarische Nachrangdarlehen). Such loans are shares in a business with similar characteristics as equity. If the company becomes insolvent or is liquidated, the claims of the Companists – just like those of all other shareholders of the company – will be satisfied from the assets in the insolvency or the assets in liquidation only after the claims of all other external creditors have been satisfied. Thus, Companists are treated like any other shareholder of the company during insolvency or liquidation proceedings.

The company information published on the Companisto website is provided solely by the companies. The projections made by the companies do not guarantee successful development of the company in the future. Consequently, crowdfunding investments are suitable only for those investors who can cope with the risk of a total loss of the capital invested. Investors make their own independent investment decisions and bear all risks themselves.
