KoRo achieves record sales in June and halves international shipping costs


Dear Companists,

We are back with our 12th update. We would once again like to thank the Companists who have joined us; we are delighted by and grateful for your investment and the confidence you have placed in us.

This update concerns reduced shipping costs to other European countries, an important scaling factor, and KoRo's sales development.  


Efficient processing for international shipping

KoRo will halve the cost of international shipping as of August. Our new partner Seven Senders helps companies to handle international shipments cost-efficiently by bundling them with other companies as a consignment solution. Packages are brought to the country border in bundles, from where they are transferred to the destination country's domestic mail. The solution is much more cost-effective than direct shipping via DHL and allows us to scale in countries where we are growing strongly. So far, we have minimized budgets for expansion for cost reasons.

Record sales in June 2018

In the last three years, we always recorded a 30% decline in sales in the summer. Aside from the typical "summer slump" that affects a large proportion of e-commerce companies, our key product categories nuts & dried fruit are particularly affected: Due to the large selection of fresh, ripe fruit, these categories temporarily lose popularity.

This year, we responded to this problem by expanding our product range and growing through targeted partnerships. Despite a price increase (more on this here: https://bit.ly/2L36BWC), we were able to post record sales of EUR 257,980.18 in June 2018. This made June the strongest sales month in the history of KoRo.

As a result, the operating result from June is slightly positive. Cash flow continues to be slightly negative. By scaling new products such as

  • Coconut water
  • Freeze-dried fruits
  • Nut mousses and the
  • KoRo Art Edition

about which you will receive more information in future updates, capital is tied up as is usual in business, since goods are paid for in advance in the initial order. This problem does not apply to subsequent orders.
