Process Automation at the StadtFarm – and Ringing in the Holiday Season!

Dear Companists,

We have now achieved more than half of our campaign target - thanks a lot for this! Let's take this opportunity for a new update.

Optimization & Automation

In the beginning, entrepreneurs do everything themselves and with low-tech - after all, the first thing you want to do is try out whether things work and whether it's worthwhile pursuing a path further. This is also the case with the reprocessing of the food that grows in our AquaTerraPonik systems. Currently, they are still processed into all the delicacies that the customers of the StadtFarm enjoy so much in the manufactory.

We are now taking the next steps specifically with fish. There are machines available on the market for the entire butchering process - from beheading to filleting to skinning. Even small machines can process around 1,000 fish per hour - while a human could ideally process 30 fish, often less. Just a reminder: 50 tons of fish at approx. 1.2 kg butchering weight per animal makes 800 fish per week per StadtFarm. Considering the massive time savings, the purchase pays off for three farms within a few years.

Therefore, we aim to consolidate the entire butchering process into one container and thus be location-independent. We would be able to kill two birds with one stone: we would be largely independent of external service providers and/or would need significantly less specially trained personnel, because the labor market in the butchering sector is anything but relaxed. This would also reduce the burden of the location question since the butchering process does not have to take place everywhere where greenhouses are located.

Most machines are currently designed for fish with scales such as salmon. We had to call all European manufacturers to see if they had any experience with Clarias or if their machines could be adapted for our needs. Meanwhile, the portfolio is clear and we have all calculated the costs. An initial pilot butchering operation is to be carried out now; we are working with the responsible authorities to design it in such a way that all the general conditions are met and the plant can be used flexibly.

The first orders will be placed at the beginning of December and the machines will be delivered at the beginning of 2019. We are very excited!

Christmas at the StadtFarm

After a seemingly endless summer, winter has set in. The last tomatos are ripening at the StadtFarm, chard and kale are replacing the harvested cucumbers and bell peppers. Salads and herbs continue to grow but at a slower pace; to make up for this, duckweed is being planted to stem part of the filtering process. We will decorate the farm shop festively to reflect the season– an interesting contrast in the midst of bananas, papaya, lemons, and Ceylon spinach.

A guided tour with a punch bar will take place on 1 December ; a Christmas market with many special offers will take place on 15 December – a special occasion to stop by. You can also pre-order fish for Christmas or New Years until 08.12. and pick it up in the farm shop until 24.12. Brand new: the StadtFarm now delivers fish throughout the country in winter; if you have not tried catfish yet, you should definitely take this opportunity to do so!

We wish you all a happy 1st advent.

With kind regards,

Anne-Kathrin Kuhlemann

Investments in startups and growth companies offer great opportunities, but they are risk investments. In the worst case, the entire investment amount may be lost. Consequently, investments in startups or growth companies are unsuitable for retirement plans. However, there is no obligation to make further contributions. Investors can minimize their risk by diversifying the amount they invest in startups and growth companies and not investing the entire amount in one startup or growth company. Professional investors often follow this strategy because it causes the risk to be distributed among several investments. In this way, successful investments can balance other less successful investments.

The shares of the investors on Companisto are subordinated profit-participating loans (partiarische Nachrangdarlehen). Such loans are shares in a business with similar characteristics as equity. If the company becomes insolvent or is liquidated, the claims of the investors (Companists) – just like those of all other shareholders of the company – will be satisfied from the assets in the insolvency or the assets in liquidation only after the claims of all other external creditors have been satisfied. Thus, Companists are treated like any other shareholder of the company during insolvency or liquidation proceedings.

The company information published on the Companisto website is provided solely by the companies. The projections made by the companies do not guarantee successful development of the company in the future. Consequently, investments in startups and growth companies are suitable only for those investors who can cope with the risk of a total loss of the capital invested. Investors make their own independent investment decisions and bear all risks themselves.

The investments are provided and issued by the individual companies. Companisto is neither the provider nor the issuer of the investments, but solely the internet service platform.
