vanilla bean prepares Android app to integrate delivery

Dear Companists,

In addition to developing our first ordering system, we have also been working intensively on the vanilla bean Android app in recent months. Since the development work will be finished soon and is strategically important, we want to introduce this topic to you in this special update.

An overview of the most important points:

  • At 76%, Android is the most widespread operating system for smartphones in Germany (source: Statista).

  • The previous vanilla bean Android app is a web app; in other words, a quickly developed website packed into an app. The iOS app was developed as a native app right from the start.

  • Most really good apps are developed natively. This means that they are developed the specific programming languages that the operating system has intended for them. For Android, for example, this is Java or, more recently, Cotlin (that's what we're working with).

  • We have completely reprogrammed a native Android app for vanilla bean.

  • We have thus completed another large basic element. Now we can integrate the delivery functions, which we are currently testing in our first ordering system, usefully and efficiently into vanilla bean.

We have long planned to develop a native app for Android as well. What are the three decisive advantages of the switch?

  1.  Progress in development is much faster. A web app is quickly created, but if you enhance an app, limits and missing documentation are more and more common. One notices it in many areas that the technology does not fit in with the operating system.

  2. Native apps are viable for the future. Every new Android version comes with new features. Functions that can only be used by native apps initially.

  3. Native apps offer a better user experience. They feel completely different. More powerful, more valuable. The best way to do this is to watch the video of the comparison at minute 1:18.

Fortunately, we are already relatively far along with our technological conversion or upgrade. Janosch, our Android developer is currently working on the final touches. Soon you'll be able to get your own impression of the new app in the Android Store.

Parallel to this of course we are working hard on the delivery system.

I wish you a nice remainder of the week!

Best greetings,

Fabian

Note

Investments in startups and growth companies offer great opportunities, but they are risk investments. In the worst case, the entire investment amount may be lost. Consequently, investments in startups or growth companies are unsuitable for retirement plans. However, there is no obligation to make further contributions. Investors can minimize their risk by diversifying the amount they invest in startups and growth companies and not investing the entire amount in one startup or growth company. Professional investors often follow this strategy because it causes the risk to be distributed among several investments. In this way, successful investments can balance other less successful investments.

The shares of the investors on Companisto are subordinated profit-participating loans (partiarische Nachrangdarlehen). Such loans are shares in a business with similar characteristics as equity. If the company becomes insolvent or is liquidated, the claims of the investors (Companists) – just like those of all other shareholders of the company – will be satisfied from the assets in the insolvency or the assets in liquidation only after the claims of all other external creditors have been satisfied. Thus, Companists are treated like any other shareholder of the company during insolvency or liquidation proceedings.

The company information published on the Companisto website is provided solely by the companies. The projections made by the companies do not guarantee successful development of the company in the future. Consequently, investments in startups and growth companies are suitable only for those investors who can cope with the risk of a total loss of the capital invested. Investors make their own independent investment decisions and bear all risks themselves.

The investments are provided and issued by the individual companies. Companisto is neither the provider nor the issuer of the investments, but solely the internet service platform.
