In the "Get to Know Your Start-up" series, Companisto introduces the founders in an interview. Who are they, how did they come up with their idea, and what else do they do? Today, we are talking to Carina and Matti of MyParfum.

Have you always wanted to become entrepreneurs? How did you get the idea for MyParfum?

Matti (Founder)Matti: I took my first steps as an "entrepreneur" while in elementary school, when my brother, my cousin, and I developed the "Picobello" magazine and sold it in our neighborhood. In this magazine, we collected recipes, useful tips for everyday life, and mediocre jokes. Entrepreneurship has always been in our blood! Instead of working part-time, my brother and I founded our first small company immediately when we started our studies. This company was a small wine shop where we sold wine bottles with individual labels. Toward the end of our studies, we then felt it was time to start a "real" company. Of the countless business ideas and concepts, the concept of individual perfume thrilled us immediately – even though we had a long way to go from the initial idea at a friend's birthday party to the first perfume sold.

What does MyParfum mean to you and why will you be the ones to make a global breakthrough by means of individual perfume?

Carina (Managing Director)Carina: To us, MyParfum means making the impossible possible. Who would have thought a few years ago that individual perfumes could be sold online? Today, we have more than 88,888 customers. The next step will now be to make the concept succeed worldwide. We think this is an exciting challenge! The world belongs to people who have the courage to change it. By now, everyone should have noticed that the perfume market is changing. All industry experts know that individual perfume will gain international acceptance within the next few years. MyParfum is a true pioneer in this domain. Over the last years, we have been ready to make mistakes, have learned from these mistakes, and now we know which way we will have to go. Our courage, diligence, innovative approach, and firm conviction that our concept will be successful are the reasons why our individual perfumes may be available around the globe within as little as a few years.

What do you expect from the Companisto campaign?

Matti: We are already thrilled by the campaign! In the two weeks since the start of the campaign, we have already raised a considerable amount, which enables us to take the next steps. Also, we have received inquiries about possible cooperation agreements with perfume store chains from all over the world. The great feedback from the Companists, however, is at least equally valuable. Whether they provide us with ideas on product development, our website, methods of payment, or contacts with new sales partners, the Companists' support helps us make a giant leap forward, which is precisely what we were hoping for. Again, thank you all very much! :-)

How can Companists also support you?

Carina: We are grateful for any kind of support. The many ideas and comments on our business concept, products, and sales in the "Comments" section and in the "Innovation Box" section in the investors area have been particularly valuable so far. Apart from this, each Companist is also a multiplier. Many Companists convince their friends and business partners to become Companists or customers themselves. All Companists may contribute their specific strengths and knowledge, no matter if these are related to their own opinion and experience as a customer, contacts with perfume store owners or cooperators, or other things.   We are glad about any message or idea we receive; the best way is to just contact Matti and me directly (companisto@myparfum.de)! :-)

What have been your most important experiences at MyParfum and what will come next?

Matti: A picture is worth a thousand words. Thus, why don't you just have a look behind the scenes of MyParfum:

Note

Investments in crowdfunding projects offer great opportunities, but they are risk investments. In the worst case, the entire investment amount may be lost. Consequently, these investments are unsuitable for retirement plans. However, there is no obligation to make further contributions. Investors can minimize their risk by splitting their investment amount between crowdfunding campaigns rather than investing all of it in one crowdfunding campaign. Professional investors often follow this strategy because it causes the risk to be distributed among several investments. In this way, successful investments can balance other less successful investments.

The shares of the Companists are subordinated profit-participating loans (partiarische Nachrangdarlehen). Such loans are shares in a business with similar characteristics as equity. If the company becomes insolvent or is liquidated, the claims of the Companists – just like those of all other shareholders of the company – will be satisfied from the assets in the insolvency or the assets in liquidation only after the claims of all other external creditors have been satisfied. Thus, Companists are treated like any other shareholder of the company during insolvency or liquidation proceedings.

The company information published on the Companisto website is provided solely by the companies. The projections made by the companies do not guarantee successful development of the company in the future. Consequently, crowdfunding investments are suitable only for those investors who can cope with the risk of a total loss of the capital invested. Investors make their own independent investment decisions and bear all risks themselves.

The investments are provided and issued by the individual companies. Companisto is neither the provider nor the issuer of the investments, but solely the internet service platform.
