Lange Nacht der Startups (Long Night of the Start-ups) 2014

Dear Companists,

On 6 September 2014, the second Lange Nacht der Startups (long night of the start-ups) is going to take place in Berlin. This event is hosted by Deutschen Telekom (a major German telecommunications company), Investitionbank Berlin (IBB; a public investment bank), the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Berlin Partner (a project by the Berlin state senate). As last year, Companisto is going to serve as a media partner of the event.

From 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., there are going to be several different events. Afterward, from 5 p.m. through midnight, the actual Lange Nacht der Startups will take place.

This year, there is again going to be a kind of start-up expo with 100 young companies from the areas of commerce/retail, communication, entertainment, data analytics, green/health/biotech, and home as well as start-ups related to the subjects of food/lifestyle and security. There are also going to be some start-ups that were financed via Companisto, namely MyParfum, KnicketKyl21, 5 CUPS and some sugar, and Wonderpots. Moreover, some of the visitors will be first-rate global VCs.

Other Items on the Agenda

The Lange Nacht der Startups is also going to consist of a conference, the "Start Tel Aviv" pitch, the "LeWeb" pitch, a speed dating event, and the Ask Me Anything Lounge. Since this is a start-up event, the agenda of the Lange Nacht der Startups will be followed by a party. Musical accompaniment is gong to be provided by Heymoonshaker and Schafe & Wölfe among others.

The Conference

From 10 a.m. through approx. 5 p.m., the Lange Nacht der Startups is going to focus primarily on the exchange of knowledge and experience. There is going to be a wide range of presentations and discussions, which is going to be divided into the three streams Starter Stream, Advanced Stream, and Tech Stream. This part of the Lange Nacht der Startups is intended to foster networking and answer urgent questions by founders. For more information on the conference and the streams, please see here.

Start Tel Aviv Pitch and LeWeb Competition

Again, the "Start Tel Aviv Pitch" is going to be part of the conference; last year, this pitch was won by the Companisto start-up movinary. During this contest, several start-ups are going to compete with each other on a large stage and before a jury consisting of employees of the Israeli embassy for a trip to Tel Aviv, the city with the world's highest start-up density.

For the first time, LeWeb is also going to be part of the Lange Nacht der Startups. LeWeb, an international conference for digital innovation, is looking for promising start-ups around the globe and is going to determine the Berlin candidate for the big final at LeWeb in Paris on 9-11 December. For more information on this and on the application for the LeWeb pitch, please see here.

Speed Dating

For the first time, there is going to be a speed dating event. Within only ten minutes, start-ups can present themselves and their ideas to T-Venture, Telekom Germany, hub:raumHigh-Tech Gründerfonds, and Investitionsbank Berlin. Applications for the speed dating event, including a brief description of the idea or of the start-up, may be sent here and may include links to the company website or to YouTube.

Ask Me Anything Lounge

In the Ask Me Anything Lounge, visitors and start-ups may ask experts questions on subjects such as marketing, law, and PR.
