Dear Companists,

On Tuesday, 24 February 2015, Pablo & Paul will open an exhibition featuring artists Alina Vergnano and Richard Wurm. Another highlight will be the performance of slam poet Bumillo, who has won several awards and will read poems about his view on the world of arts.

Alina Vergnano, WALLS IV // MAAM Rome + Florence, Street Art

During this event, you may also meet our two founders and managing directors Christoph and Philipp and our chief curator Elisabeth. In addition, both artists will be present.

Alina Vergnano

In her drawings and videos, Alina Vergnano demonstrates that she has a keen eye for subtle gestures in everyday life. The drawings by this Italian street artist provide brief glimpses into the life and the mental world of her protagonists. Through her clear and simple lines, she has found a way of depicting the confusing world of human emotions, thoughts, and relationships. Her drawings depict scenes just before or just after a specific event. She invites viewers to see the world through the eyes of a stunned child and has created a new large wall piece for the exhibition.

Richard Wurm, m=dy/dx, 2015, Acrylic and Wall Paint on Canvas, 120 x 180 cm

Richard Wurm

Richard Wurm's new large and bright paintings also shown in the exhibition provide an interesting contrast to the clear and simple style of Alina Vergnano. In his artworks, this engineer and artist focuses on the visualization of transience. Wurm's abstract paintings are inspired by urban scenes of decay. His pictures are influenced by various sights, for instance by crumbling plaster, half-torn bills on billboards, and graffiti. His works' titles are mathematical equations or formulae, which hint at his original profession.

Note

Investments in crowdfunding projects offer great opportunities, but they are risk investments. In the worst case, the entire investment amount may be lost. Consequently, these investments are unsuitable for retirement plans. However, there is no obligation to make further contributions. Investors can minimize their risk by splitting their investment amount between crowdfunding campaigns rather than investing all of it in one crowdfunding campaign. Professional investors often follow this strategy because it causes the risk to be distributed among several investments. In this way, successful investments can balance other less successful investments.

The shares of the Companists are subordinated profit-participating loans (partiarische Nachrangdarlehen). Such loans are shares in a business with similar characteristics as equity. If the company becomes insolvent or is liquidated, the claims of the Companists – just like those of all other shareholders of the company – will be satisfied from the assets in the insolvency or the assets in liquidation only after the claims of all other external creditors have been satisfied. Thus, Companists are treated like any other shareholder of the company during insolvency or liquidation proceedings.
