Declarations for Exemption from German Withholding Tax May Now Be Submitted via Companisto

Dear Companists,

As many of you have asked us for a way of submitting declarations for exemption from German withholding tax (Freistellungsaufträge) to start-ups on our platform, we would like to inform you that this is now possible. As always, we would like to thank you very much for this helpful suggestion, which we have gladly implemented for you.

How to Submit the Declaration

If you would like to submit declarations for exemption from withholding tax for one or more of your investments, you may simply do so in your personal section on our website (at www.companisto.com/tax-exemption). Needless to say, joint declarations for married couples may also be submitted via our online form. Once you have submitted a declaration for exemption from withholding tax on our platform, we will automatically notify the affected start-ups before a payout to Companists.

Please note: Declarations for exemption from withholding tax (Freistellungsaufträge) may only be submitted by natural persons who are subject to taxation in Germany. Moreover, according to German tax law, such declarations may only be submitted for those investments made in the form of subordinated profit-participating loans (partiarische Nachrangdarlehen).

Do You Have Any Further Suggestions?

We consider open innovation a very important aspect of equity-based crowdfunding. We have already benefited from our crowd in many ways and have put many of our Companists' suggestions into practice. For instance, we received the following suggestions from our Companists:

  • the RSS feed
  • the option of using aliases
  • the option of investing in Companisto start-ups as a company
  • the Companisto gift certificates

If you have any further suggestions that you would like us to consider, please send them to open-innovation@companisto.com

Best regards,

The Companisto team
