Dear Companists,

We are really looking forward to our campaign launch on 28 April because we want to take the final steps before the theatrical release of our movie together with you! Today's update focuses on the investment model of our campaign and on the market volume of German movies.

Investment Model

For the first time, we will enable Companists to invest in a movie. Our investment model will include the following aspects:

If €1m is invested, the community of Companists will receive €1 per ticket sold for the first one million tickets and €0.50 per ticket sold for every additional ticket.

After the theatrical release, the movie will be made available on Blu-ray/DVD, via video on demand, and on pay TV and free TV. The community of Companists will then receive a 10 % share in the proceeds.

Sample calculation for 1 million cinema tickets sold and proceeds of €2.9m from Blu-ray/DVD, video on demand, pay TV and free TV:

  • 1 million x €1 + 10 % of €2.9m = a €1.29m payout to the community of Companists.
  • Thus, a Companist who invested €1,000 would receive €1,290.

Sample calculation for 1.5 million cinema tickets sold and proceeds of €4m from Blu-ray/DVD, video on demand, pay TV and free TV:

  • 1 million x €1 + 500,000 x €0.5 + 10 % of €4m = a €1.65m payout to the community of Companists.
  • Thus, a Companist who invested €1,000 would receive €1,650.

(The above sample calculations are explanations of the investment model, not projections)

Market Volume

Our movie is an authentic urban comedy made in Berlin. The movie has already been filmed with a first-rate ensemble and edited completely. Thus, at this point, we have already done the lion's share of the work before the movie's theatrical release.

In 2014, the 4,600 German cinemas saw a total of 121.7 million visitors. The market share of German movies was 26.7 %, that is, 32.1 million visitors (source: www.ffa.de).

The highest-grossing movies were comedies, which generate considerable revenues in cinemas. In 2015, the number of cinema visitors is expected to rise to 128.7 million. This trend will most likely continue in the next few years (source: www.statista-research.com).

After their theatrical release, which immediately generates revenues through ticket sales, movies are made available on the home entertainment market, which generated €1.7bn in total revenues in 2014.

Needless to say, we will keep you posted and provide you with exciting news on our project shortly – stay tuned!

Best regards,

Björn and Henrik of the movie team
