Crowdinvesting: Taking It to the Next Level

Companisto launched in 2012 as one of Germany's first crowdinvesting platforms. But where others have stopped, we have kept moving forward.

To this day, traditional crowd investing usually means one thing: many investors collectively provide a subordinated loan to a startup. They finance it—but you don’t own any of it.

Companisto has replaced this model. With us, you invest in the equity of a corporation—typically a limited liability company (GmbH) or a stock corporation (Aktiengesellschaft). You subscribe, directly or indirectly, to GmbH shares or stocks with shareholder rights—the same instruments used by professional business angels and venture capital funds to invest.

You aren't just financing it—you become a co-owner.

What began as a crowdinvesting platform in 2012 has become Europe's largest platform for startup equity. If traditional crowdinvesting was the first generation, Companisto is the second.

Invest Like a Business Angel – Starting at €250

For decades, this asset class was reserved for a small circle of wealthy and well-connected investors. The minimum investment amounts were often in the six-figure range. Anyone who wanted to invest early in the next big technology company needed access that most people never had.

Companisto opens up this opportunity. With an investment of €250 or more, you can invest in the same vetted startups as the more than 7,200 business angels and professional investors in our network.

No. 1 in the EU—by volume

This is not a claim, but a measured fact. The independent ECCL 2025 study conducted a comprehensive analysis of the European equity crowdfunding market—also known as crowdinvesting. The result: With €49 million in capital raised in 2025, Companisto is the equity crowdfunding platform with the highest volume in the EU—ahead of every other platform listed in the report.

Europe’s largest single crowdfunding round also took place on Companisto in 2025: €8 million for the deep-tech company DiaMonTech. With a cumulative volume of over €300 million, Companisto is also the largest facilitator of startup equity in the entire DACH region.

Selection Instead of a Marketplace

Companisto is not a marketplace with thousands of projects. Each quarter, our investment team selects only about nine funding rounds from hundreds of applications. Every startup undergoes a comprehensive pre-screening process; each round is documented with detailed investment materials, financial metrics, and live discussions with the founders.

You don't see everything. You see what's been selected.

Startup investments are venture capital—individual investments may result in a total loss. That is precisely why experienced angel investors spread their capital across many startups rather than just one. Those who diversify broadly significantly increase their chances of success.
What Our Investors Say

FAQ

No—the difference is fundamental. With traditional crowdfunding, you support a project and receive a product, a reward, or nothing in return. With crowdinvesting on Companisto, you acquire equity in a company—either directly or indirectly—in the form of GmbH shares or stocks with shareholder rights—and you share in the company’s success. You’re not supporting a project; you’re becoming a co-owner.
Two things. The instrument: equity capital instead of the subordinated loans commonly used on many traditional platforms. And the scale: according to the 2025 ECCL study, the platform with the highest volume of startup equity capital in the EU.
Starting at just €250. For well-capitalized investors investing €10,000 or more per deal, there’s also the Companisto Angel Club.
Startup investments are venture capital and involve significant risks, including the potential for total loss of the capital invested. Returns are not guaranteed. Therefore, you should invest only a portion of your assets and diversify widely across multiple startups.
